Walking the unknown path...

I have spent days searching for words to write a profound and inspirational post about 'walking the unknown path'. After about half a dozen attempts I stopped and realised that what I was trying to articulate was something that I can only instinctively grasp right now myself.

So instead of forcing it, I decided to post a photo of this beautiful old rock wall jetty where I often walk, look out to the vast stretch of ocean and feel inspired. Also this quote by an amazing poet who was defiant, unconventional and ahead of her time.

"I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I am going is what inspires me to travel it."

Art Awakenings

Art for me is something where you don’t always know why.... can’t always be understood logically....and often isn't easily explained in words. Sometimes the magic of a piece is the journey leading to it's creation and the 'ah-ha' moments that were made getting there. The artwork itself is a cumulation of thought and life experiences intertwined with artistic expression and creativity.

Ironically that’s why I love it. It’s the one place I have to step back. I'm unable to influence people’s opinion of it, don’t have to explain or justify anything and can roll with my intuition and inspiration instead of always being logical and 'understood'. I personally am drawn to creating imaginative, expressive and challenging pieces that evoke discussion and explore concepts beyond this existence. It doesn’t always make sense to people at first glance or perhaps at all. But art for me is an evolution of questions, stories, experiences, emotions and wonder. I don’t always know what it is I am saying specifically at first but as I create the conversation is lead through my work and it ends up exactly where I wanted to go. I know why and what I am saying and the messages I want to convey are both obvious and hidden.

My true words are within the artwork and they are reaching out to be engaged. If you look deeper there is a world of conversation in there just not as you know it. xxx
